Job Description
Zolo | Student Living
Resident Manager – Student Living
Create a place students feel at home — and parents feel at peace.
Why this role exists
Student living is not just accommodation.
It is trust management at scale.
For many students:
- This is their first time living away from home
- They are adjusting to independence, routines, and shared living
- Daily issues can range from emotional concerns to operational problems
At the same time:
- Parents are trusting us with safety, discipline, and care
- Small operational gaps immediately impact confidence and trust
In student living, warmth alone is not enough.
Discipline alone is not enough.
The environment succeeds only when:
- Students feel comfortable and supported
- Rules are followed consistently
- Safety is maintained at all times
- Issues are handled quickly and professionally
- Communication remains structured and reliable
The biggest operational failures usually happen when:
- Friendliness and discipline are not balanced properly
- Student issues are ignored or delayed
- Incident documentation becomes weak
- Rules are enforced inconsistently
- Community engagement is poor
- Parents lose visibility and trust
Without strong on-ground leadership:
- Conflicts increase
- Escalations become frequent
- Parent trust weakens
- Student experience becomes unstable
- Property discipline breaks down
This role exists to ensure:
- Students feel safe, welcomed, and supported
- Parents feel assured and informed
- Discipline is maintained without unnecessary friction
- Complaints and incidents are handled professionally
- Community culture remains positive and structured
If this role is strong:
- Students feel comfortable and secure
- Parents trust the property operations
- Conflicts and escalations reduce significantly
- Discipline remains stable and respectful
- Student retention improves
If this role is weak:
- Safety concerns increase
- Parent dissatisfaction rises
- Conflicts escalate frequently
- Operational control weakens
- Community culture deteriorates
This role directly controls:
Student experience + parent trust + discipline + community stability
Your mandate is clear
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and disciplined living environment
- Respond quickly to operational and safety concerns
- Build a positive and respectful student community
- Ensure proper documentation of incidents and complaints
- Build trust with both students and parents
This is not a caretaker role.
This is a ground-level leadership and community ownership role.
Create a place students feel at home — and parents feel at peace.
