Job Description
Job Summary :
The VMC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and quality standards. The role involves ensuring machine efficiency, maintaining product quality, and following safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate VMC machines as per production requirements.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
- Perform tool setting, tool offset adjustments, and basic machine calibration.
- Monitor machining operations and make necessary corrections to maintain quality.
- Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
- Report machine breakdowns or quality issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure proper handling of tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment.
- Follow 5S, safety, and company quality standards.
Experience
- 1–5 years of experience operating VMC machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in machining precision components is preferred.
