Commis (Commi 1 / 2 / 3)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and hardworking Commis 1 Chef to join our kitchen team. The chef will primarily be responsible for preparing and handling our 100% vegetarian Continental and Chinese menu while maintaining consistency in taste, quality, portion size, presentation, and hygiene. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced outlet and should be able to independently handle their section during busy service hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook vegetarian Chinese and Continental dishes according to our recipes and standards.
• Handle day-to-day kitchen operations and ensure timely preparation of orders.
• Maintain consistency in taste, texture, portion size, and presentation.
• Manage mise en place and ensure all ingredients are properly prepared before service.
• Handle wok cooking and preparation of items such as noodles, fried rice, Manchurian, chilli preparations, sauces, starters, pasta, fries, and other Continental/Chinese dishes.
• Follow standardized recipes and instructions provided by the management.
• Maintain proper food storage, labelling, and FIFO practices.
• Keep the workstation clean, organized, and hygienic throughout the shift.
• Minimize food wastage and use ingredients responsibly.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
• Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely order dispatch.
• Maintain proper hygiene and follow food safety practices at all times.
• Assist with new dish trials, recipe development, and menu improvements when required.
• Take responsibility for the cleanliness and basic upkeep of kitchen equipment used in the section.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Commis 1 / CDP / experienced Commis 2 in a restaurant, café, QSR, or similar kitchen.
• Good hands-on knowledge of Chinese and Continental cuisine.
• Strong understanding of vegetarian food preparation.
• Ability to work efficiently during busy service hours.
• Good knife skills and basic knowledge of kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency.
• Punctual, disciplined, and responsible.
• Willingness to work as part of a small and growing kitchen team.
