Job Description
- Key responsibilities: carry out preventive and corrective electrical maintenance of water supply project equipment and systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot motors, pumps, control panels, MCC panels, distribution panels, starters, contactors, relays, and electrical wiring.
- Diagnose electrical faults and attend breakdowns promptly to minimise equipment downtime.
- Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical installations.
- Monitor and maintain pump house electrical systems and associated equipment.
- Read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control circuits.
- Check voltage, current, insulation resistance, earthing, and other electrical parameters using appropriate testing instruments.
- Assist in installation, testing, commissioning, and modification of electrical equipment.
- Ensure proper maintenance of electrical tools, equipment, cables, and spare parts.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules and maintain maintenance records.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, PPE requirements, and site safety standards.
- Coordinate with operators, technicians, supervisors, and project/site engineers for smooth operation.
- Respond to emergency electrical breakdowns and provide timely corrective action.
- Ensure all electrical work is carried out safely and as per approved procedures.
- Required Qualifications & SkillsITI in Electrical Trade from a recognized institute.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance; experience in water supply, pumping stations, STP/WTP, infrastructure, or similar projects will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of electrical motors, pumps, panels, starters, MCCs, and distribution systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults independently.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices and use of electrical testing instruments.
- Ability to work in shifts and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and willing to work at project/site locations.
