About the Role

 

Reporting to the Head of GCC and Managing Director Bengaluru, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for driving the execution of the GCC strategy and operating model across Bengaluru and Manila. The role provides leadership across operational governance, business performance, strategic delivery, risk and controls, workforce planning, and enterprise capability development ensuring the GCC continues to deliver value, efficiency and resilience for ANZ.

 

The COO partners closely with Group Operations, Technology, Risk, Finance, and other enterprise stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into scalable and sustainable outcomes. The role is accountable for strengthening operational effectiveness, enabling delivery of key transformation initiatives, and enhancing the governance, reporting, and performance disciplines required to support long-term growth.

 

In addition, the role oversees workplace and site operations, including facilities, security, transport, travel, and employee services, ensuring a safe, compliant, and high-performing environment while continually improving employee experience, operational efficiency, and vendor performance across the GCC.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Drive operational excellence, standardisation and continuous improvement through clear governance, ownership, accountability and collaboration across GCC teams, improving productivity, efficiency and customer experience.
  • Maintaining operational resilience through robust contingency planning and ongoing management of Business Continuity Plans across all in-country businesses.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across ANZ and represent GCC at key governance forums and leadership committees, influencing strategic decisions, ensuring alignment to divisional and enterprise priorities, and driving successful business outcomes.
  • Lead the development, planning and execution of the GCC's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and community engagement initiatives, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to deliver meaningful social impact, strengthen employee participation, and enhance ANZ's reputation as a responsible corporate citizen
  • Establish and lead a robust delivery governance framework across the GCC, overseeing KPIs, SLAs and executive reporting to identify trends, performance gaps and improvement opportunities, and drive accountability, operational excellence and sustainable business outcomes.
  • Optimising supplier and third-party arrangements in line with ANZ’s Global Sourcing standards to deliver value for both the business and customers.
  • Advancing the group’s digital agenda by modernising platforms, connecting processes and data, and identifying automation opportunities to improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Strengthen the GCC's risk and control environment by leading enterprise risk management, governance and regulatory compliance activities. Drive meaningful reductions in Non-Financial Risk through data-led insights, root cause analysis, control uplift initiatives and proactive risk mitigation, while ensuring effective execution of ANZ's Non-Financial Risk framework, including FAR, PACT and associated obligations.
  • Drive the GCC's innovation and transformation agenda by identifying, adopting and scaling industry-leading practices, digital capabilities and AI-enabled solutions that enhance efficiency, strengthen customer outcomes and create sustainable enterprise value.
  • Lead world-class facilities, workplace and infrastructure services ensuring safe, compliant, resilient and high-performing environments that support business growth and workforce expansion.
  • Oversee operational excellence across workplace services, security, transport and travel, delivering efficient, reliable and customer-focused services across GCC location
  • Partner with business and functional leaders on enterprise-wide workplace and operational initiatives that enhance workplace experience, foster a high-performing culture, strengthen organisational effectiveness, and support GCC growth objectives.

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll ideally bring the following:

 

  • Substantive experience as a Chief Operating Officer in a GCC or proven track record of leading large operations team with the capability and aspiration to grow into a broader GCC leadership role
  • Strong executive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, represent the GCC at enterprise governance forums and align local priorities with broader organisational objectives
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen and ability to shape and execute strategy while maintaining a customer-first approach across all decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing governance and performance management frameworks, including KPIs, SLAs, executive reporting, scorecards and data-driven insights to improve business outcomes
  • Deep expertise in risk management, controls and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on reducing Non-Financial Risk through root cause analysis, control uplift and proactive risk mitigation
  • Experience leading large-scale transformation initiatives, leveraging digital technologies, automation, data and AI to improve efficiency, scalability and customer outcomes.
  • Commercially astute with experience managing suppliers, third-party partnerships and enterprise-wide operational initiatives.
  • Strong leadership capability with a focus on employee engagement, culture, organisational effectiveness and building high-performing teams.
  • Experience overseeing workplace, facilities and business support functions to ensure safe, resilient and effective operating environments.
  • A passion for innovation, adoption of best practices and driving sustainable change across the organisation.
  • Ability to set strategic priorities and deliver outcomes under pressure, balancing customer, risk, productivity, and people considerations at scale.
