Senior Interior Designer

Role Overview

This is a hybrid Interior Design + Sales + Project Coordination position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, developing interior designs, preparing quotations and BOQs, presenting solutions, closing sales and remotely coordinating projects through production, installation and handover.

This is not a purely design-oriented position.

The candidate should be commercially oriented and comfortable interacting with customers, discussing budgets, presenting quotations, negotiating, following up with leads and closing business.

The individual will effectively act as the primary point of contact for the customer throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Consultation & Requirement Gathering

• Attend to showroom walk-ins, digital marketing leads, referrals and other prospective customers.
• Interact with customers to understand their interior requirements in detail.
• Understand the customer's apartment layout, family requirements, lifestyle, preferences, budget and expected project completion timeline.
• Conduct structured design consultations and recommend appropriate interior solutions.
• Educate customers about different materials, finishes, hardware, accessories and available design options.
• Explain the company's design, manufacturing, installation, payment, warranty and project-management processes.
• Build strong relationships with prospective customers and establish trust throughout the sales process.

2. Interior Design

• Develop creative and practical interior solutions based on customer requirements and budgets.
• Prepare space plans and furniture layouts.
• Develop 2D layouts, 3D designs, presentations and visualisations for customer discussions.
• Design modular kitchens, wardrobes, TV units, storage units, vanities, Murphy beds and other residential furniture.
• Recommend appropriate colours, materials, finishes, laminates, acrylics, hardware and accessories.
• Modify designs based on customer feedback while maintaining functionality, aesthetics and commercial feasibility.
• Ensure designs are technically feasible for manufacturing and installation.
• Prepare final drawings and specifications required for production.
• Design False ceiling and recommend lighting solution

3. BOQ, Estimation & Quotations

• Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on approved designs.
• Prepare project estimates and customer quotations.
• Understand project costing and ensure quotations comply with approved pricing and margin guidelines.
• Clearly explain quotations and specifications to customers.
• Identify opportunities to upgrade or cross-sell products where they genuinely add value to the customer's project.
• Ensure all changes in scope are appropriately documented and commercially accounted for.

4. Sales & Business Conversion

This role carries direct sales responsibility.

The candidate will be expected to:

• Own assigned leads from initial enquiry through final sales closure.
• Conduct regular follow-ups with prospective customers.
• Present design proposals and commercial quotations confidently.
• Address customer questions and objections.
• Negotiate within company-approved pricing and discount guidelines.
• Convert qualified leads into confirmed projects.
• Achieve assigned monthly sales and booking targets.
• Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide periodic pipeline forecasts to management.
• Maintain accurate records of leads, follow-ups, quotations and sales status.
• Protect project profitability and avoid unauthorized discounts or commercial commitments.

Performance incentives will be linked to achievement of sales and business targets.

5. Material & Product Selection

Guide customers through selection of appropriate:

• Plywood and boards
• Laminates
• Acrylic and other premium finishes
• Kitchen and wardrobe hardware
• Handles and profiles
• Kitchen accessories
• Countertops
• Wardrobe accessories
• Glass and mirrors
• Colours and finishes
• Furniture and related interior products

Ensure that all selections are properly documented and approved by the customer before production.

6. Site Measurement Coordination

• Coordinate site measurement requirements with customers and measurement/execution teams.
• Review site measurements before finalising production drawings.
• Identify discrepancies between architectural drawings and actual site conditions.
• Ensure final dimensions are incorporated into approved designs and BOQs before production release.
• Coordinate clarification of technical/site issues with the execution team when required.

7. Remote Project Coordination

The position will coordinate project execution primarily from the experience centre rather than functioning as a full-time site supervisor.

Responsibilities include:

• Own assigned projects from customer booking through final handover.
• Coordinate with manufacturing partners, vendors, installers and execution teams.
• Track production and procurement schedules.
• Coordinate material dispatch and installation schedules.
• Monitor project milestones against committed customer timelines.
• Ensure necessary information and drawings are provided to execution teams.
• Coordinate resolution of design, material and installation-related issues.
• Escalate delays, quality issues and customer concerns to management promptly.
• Conduct site visits when necessary for measurements, critical project reviews, issue resolution or handover.

8. Customer Project Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers.
• Provide customers with regular updates on design, production, delivery and installation status.
• Set appropriate expectations regarding project timelines and dependencies.
• Coordinate customer approvals at appropriate project stages.
• Maintain professional communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Proactively identify potential delays or issues and communicate them before they affect customer experience.

9. Payment & Commercial Coordination

• Track customer payment milestones against agreed payment schedules.
• Coordinate with customers and management for timely payment collections.
• Ensure required payments are received before relevant production/dispatch milestones.
• Ensure additional customer requirements are documented through approved change requests.
• Avoid committing free work, additional products or unauthorized discounts without management approval.
• Support management in protecting project margins.

10. Project Completion & Handover

• Coordinate with execution teams to ensure all agreed work is completed.
• Track open issues and snag items through closure.
• Coordinate final project walkthrough and customer handover.
• Ensure outstanding documentation and payments are completed.
• Follow up with customers after completion to ensure satisfaction.
• Encourage satisfied customers to provide reviews and referrals.
