Business Data Intelligence Analyst

Job Description Summary

MANAGE all data related to Scope 3 activities, SUPPORT those activities through advanced data profiling and data quality analysis and Scope 3 accounting, and CONTRIBUTE TO further development of data management processes.
The person in this role will be responsible for dealing with diverse data sets of both internal and external origin, and of different data structures, varying levels of data granularity, fuzzy data overlaps, and with data inconsistencies and gaps.
They will be expected to actively engage with the data from the ES strategy and targets perspective and pro-actively look for and identify patterns, connections and interdependencies. They will also be expected to identify and implement data processing optimisation measures and co-shape AI-enabled and automation projects.


Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and support environmental performance monitoring and reporting by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, while contributing to Business Process Excellence

  • Drive initiatives to improve data quality and data collection, processing, calculations and modelling to continuously advance accuracy and reliability of results, while ensuring that appropriate controls are in place

  • Implement and maintain processes and procedures which ensure timely reporting of environmental KPIs in line with Novartis internal and external reporting requirements

  • Support limited and reasonable assurance processes related to environmental KPIs in line with ISAE 3000 and other standards as applicable

  • Support leadership and business teams’ decision-making in environmental sustainability related areas to drive execution and delivery of environmental sustainability strategy and targets across climate and nature

  • Support the preparation of relevant performance reports in line with their delivery frequency

  • Support Scope 3-related activities particularly in terms of: Data collection, processing, modelling, reporting and filing, Data quality improvements, Reference data management , Document and content management.

  • Business intelligence, incl. supplier maturity assessments, cross-industry and cross-regional decarbonization trends, forecasting. Foster understanding of environmental data and insights across the organization, including sharing of lessons learned and best practices

  • Participate actively in assigned external industry fora and working groups (e.g. PSCI, PEG, WBCSD, SMI) where relevant, share respective insights with internal stakeholders and coordinate with them any action based on the needs of the external engagements.

Essential Requirements:

  • Overall, more than 5 years’ experience out of which at least 2 years of direct experience with advanced business data profiling in a manufacturing industry

  • Understanding of environmental sustainability issues

  • Technical proficiency: Excel mastery, data visualisation skills; ideally complemented by proficiency in Python or R; other technical skills are an advantage

  • Proven ability to streamline and implement processes that create efficacy and efficiency, and support shifting business needs

  • Proven ability to critically evaluate and map technical data profiles to real-world business logic and operational workflows

  • “Hands on” mindset and not afraid of breaking new grounds and going deep into technical details

  • Experience with working in multistakeholder environments seeking alignment from diverse partners

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a global working environment and lead technical discussions

  • High adaptability to fast paced and rapidly changing work environment.

Desirable Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Business Analytics, Finance, or Computer Science). Relevant practice required for other majors.
  • Fluent English (oral and written)
