As Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited (AZPIL), a publicly listed entity of AstraZeneca Group, you will provide strategic financial leadership, stewardship, and governance that enable sustainable growth and uphold the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and corporate responsibility.

You will be a key member of the AstraZeneca Pharma India Board of Directors, responsible for advising the Board and the Managing Director on all financial, regulatory, and governance matters. The role encompasses end-to-end leadership of AZPIL’s financial strategy, statutory reporting, investor engagement, and internal control environment, ensuring that the listed entity operates with integrity, fiscal discipline, and alignment to AstraZeneca’s global standards.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic and Financial Leadership

  • Lead the overall financial strategy and performance of AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited (AZPIL), ensuring robust financial health, compliance, and value creation for shareholders.

  • Partner with the Managing Director and Leadership Team to drive growth, optimize resource allocation, and deliver sustainable profitability also ensuring strategic alignment and operational excellence.

  • Oversee financial planning, forecasting, and analysis processes to support both short- and long-term business objectives.
    Drive accountability, cost discipline, and return on investment across commercial, manufacturing, and enabling functions.

Board and Governance Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the AZPIL Board of Directors, contributing to strategic deliberations and ensuring sound financial governance across all operations.

  • Present financial statements, forecasts, and performance updates to the Board and its committees, ensuring transparency and accuracy.

  • Ensure compliance with the Companies Act and other statutory requirements applicable to listed entities.

  • Collaborate closely with the Audit Committee and Risk Management Committee, to maintain strong governance and internal control frameworks.

  • Lead the statutory reporting process, ensuring timely submission of quarterly and annual financial results to the Board, stock exchanges, and regulatory bodies.

  • Oversee investor relations and public disclosures, ensuring AZPIL’s communications reflect financial clarity, regulatory compliance, and shareholder trust.

  • Safeguard the organization’s reputation by embedding ethical financial practices and fostering a strong compliance culture across the business.

Operational and Regulatory Excellence

  • Manage statutory audits, tax audits, and interactions with auditors, regulators, and financial institutions.

  • Drive continuous improvement in finance systems, reporting frameworks, and digital capabilities to enhance agility and transparency.

  • Work with regional finance teams to maintain alignment with AstraZeneca’s accounting, governance, and operational standards.

  • Support enterprise risk management, internal audit reviews, and remediation processes to ensure business continuity and compliance.

Leadership and People Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing Finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Mentor and develop talent within the function, ensuring succession readiness and capability for future leadership.

  • Promote AstraZeneca’s values of integrity, inclusion, and excellence, ensuring Finance operates as a trusted strategic partner to the business.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification; MBA in Finance preferred. With 15 or more years of progressive Finance leadership experience, including within a listed company or regulated industry.

  • Strong understanding of financial governance, statutory compliance, taxation, and risk management frameworks.

  • Proven experience presenting to or advising Boards and Audit Committees.

  • Demonstrated success in managing external audits, financial reporting, and investor communication.

  • Experience working in a global matrix organization, managing cross-functional relationships.

Desirable

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare industry.

  • Exposure to investor relations and capital market communications.

  • Familiarity with AstraZeneca’s global financial and governance processes.
