VIDYA – Job DescriptionPosition: Center Coordinator – Margam ProgramProgram: Margam – Tailoring & Aahar
Location: Mumbai
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Program Manager / Senior Program Manager
Job PurposeThe Center Coordinator will be responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the Margam Center, including Tailoring and Aahar activities. The Coordinator will manage center operations, student/beneficiary coordination, trainer coordination, community mobilization, documentation, reporting, and program activities.
- Key Responsibilities1. Center ManagementManage the day-to-day operations of the Margam Center.
- Ensure the center is clean, safe, organized, and well maintained.
- Maintain attendance registers, beneficiary records, asset registers, and other documents.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of sewing machines, kitchen equipment, and other center assets.
- Ensure compliance with VIDYA policies and procedures.
- 2. Tailoring ProgramCoordinate with tailoring trainers and ensure regular training sessions.
- Support mobilization and enrollment of women/girls for tailoring courses.
- Monitor trainee attendance and progress.
- Maintain batch-wise training and attendance records.
- Support assessments, certificate distribution, exhibitions, and other tailoring-related activities.
- Support trainees in exploring employment, self-employment, and income-generation opportunities.
- 3. Aahar ProgramCoordinate the day-to-day activities of the Aahar Program.
- Coordinate with staff, trainers, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain records related to beneficiaries, attendance, activities, and program outputs.
- Ensure proper use, cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen/equipment and other resources.
- Support food-related training, activities, workshops, and community programs as applicable.
- Ensure that program activities are conducted as per VIDYA guidelines.
- 4. Community MobilizationConduct community visits and mobilization activities.
- Identify and enroll eligible beneficiaries for Tailoring and Aahar programs.
- Build good relationships with community members and local stakeholders.
- Follow up with beneficiaries to ensure regular participation and course completion.
- 5. Documentation & ReportingMaintain daily, weekly, and monthly center records.
- Prepare attendance, enrollment, activity, and progress reports.
- Maintain photographs and supporting documents of program activities.
- Submit timely and accurate reports to the Program Manager.
- Maintain updated beneficiary and program databases.
- 6. Team CoordinationCoordinate with trainers, mobilizers, helpers, and other center staff.
- Monitor staff attendance and work schedules.
- Conduct regular team coordination meetings.
- Communicate instructions and program updates to the team.
- Escalate operational issues to the reporting manager.
- 7. Events & ActivitiesCoordinate exhibitions, workshops, awareness sessions, community events, certificate distribution, and other program activities.
- Support donor visits and monitoring visits.
- Ensure proper arrangements and documentation for all events.
- QualificationsGraduate in any discipline.
- Preference will be given to candidates with Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, or related qualifications.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in NGO, community development, skill development, livelihood, or center management.
- Experience in Tailoring, Livelihood, Food/Skill Development, or community-based programs will be an added advantage.
- Required SkillsGood communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of English, Hindi, and Marathi.
- Basic knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Strong coordination and community mobilization skills.
- Ability to manage a center independently.
- Good problem-solving and team management skills.
- Willingness to travel for community visits when required.
