NURSING STAFF/ OPD ASSISTANT

Key Responsibilities

#### 1. Patient Assessment & Vitals

* Welcome and guide patients during registration and consultation.

* Measure and record:

 * Blood Pressure (BP)

 * Pulse Rate

 * Respiratory Rate

 * Temperature

 * Oxygen Saturation (SpO₂)

 * Height, Weight, and BMI

* Accurately document patient information in clinic records or software.

#### 2. Blood Sample Collection (Phlebotomy)

* Perform venous and capillary blood collection as per standard protocols.

* Label specimens correctly and maintain sample integrity.

* Prepare samples for transport to the laboratory.

* Maintain collection records and test requisition forms.

* Follow universal precautions and biomedical waste disposal guidelines.

#### 3. OPD Assistance

* Prepare consultation rooms before clinic hours.

* Assist doctors during examinations and minor procedures.

* Arrange instruments and consumables as required.

* Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

#### 4. Infection Control & Safety

* Ensure cleanliness of examination and procedure areas.

* Sterilize reusable instruments as per protocol.

* Use PPE appropriately.

* Follow infection-control and biomedical waste management practices.

#### 5. Inventory Management

* Monitor stock of syringes, needles, gloves, cotton, antiseptics, and other consumables.

* Report shortages to the clinic manager.

* Assist in maintaining medicine and equipment records.

#### 6. Patient Communication

* Explain basic test procedures to patients.

* Provide instructions regarding sample collection and follow-up visits.

* Maintain a polite and professional attitude toward patients and attendants.

### Required Skills

* Competency in measuring vital signs.

* Blood sample collection and handling skills.

* Basic knowledge of infection-control procedures.

* Good communication and patient-handling skills.

* Ability to maintain accurate records.

* Familiarity with clinic software is desirable.
