Senior Software Test Engineer (Typescript, Playwright)

Job Description

• Ability to work with ambiguous requirements, identify gaps, uncover implicit business rules, and define comprehensive test coverage.
• Strong understanding of BDD and experience collaborating with Product Owners and Developers to create executable specifications using Cucumber/Gherkin.
• Thorough understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and quality engineering practices.
• Ability to define and implement product-level test strategies, test plans, and quality gates.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, configurable, and reusable test automation frameworks using TypeScript, Playwright, and Cucumber.
• Proficiency in utilizing test management and reporting tools such as Jira, Zephyr, Confluence, and automated reporting dashboards.
• Ability to participate in architecture and design discussions, ensuring solutions are testable, scalable, and maintainable.
• Experience defining and managing test data strategies across multiple environments.
• Strong root cause analysis skills for pre-production and production issues, with the ability to identify and close quality gaps.
• Ability to identify, communicate, and mitigate quality risks while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience validating deployments, monitoring application health, and supporting production quality through Grafana, OpenSearch, and K9s.
• Ability to collaborate with development, DevOps, and operations teams to troubleshoot complex issues and improve system reliability.

Software Development Tools

• Strong understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) principles.
• Experience implementing and maintaining automated test execution pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
• Ability to design automation solutions for UI, API, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience enhancing frameworks, tooling, and processes to improve automation efficiency and quality outcomes.
• Strong experience with source control management using Git and collaborative development practices.

Technologies and Standards

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript for automation development.
• Expertise in Playwright for UI and End-to-End testing.
• Hands-on experience with Cucumber/Gherkin for Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
• Strong API testing skills using Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Playwright API capabilities.
• Experience validating REST APIs, service integrations, authentication, and business workflows.
• Strong SQL and data validation experience using Oracle SQL Developer and MySQL.
• Experience working with JSON data structures and API payload validation.
• Knowledge of application deployment, monitoring, and observability practices.
• Experience using Grafana, OpenSearch, and K9s for monitoring, troubleshooting, and deployment validation.
• Experience using Jira, Zephyr, and Confluence for test management, documentation, and reporting.

Key Accountabilities

• Own and drive quality engineering and continuous improvement initiatives across products and teams.
• Design, implement, and maintain automation frameworks and testing best practices.
• Promote shift-left testing and ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Help teams define clear, measurable, and testable acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to understand business requirements and quality objectives.
• Ensure adequate test coverage across UI, API, integration, database, and end-to-end testing layers.
• Work closely with developers during implementation to ensure appropriate testing at every stage.
• Analyze defects and production issues, driving preventive actions and quality improvements.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and efficient releases.
• Support deployment validation, monitoring, and production readiness activities.
• Mentor and coach engineers on automation frameworks, testing methodologies, and quality engineering best practices.
• Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions, framework reviews, Communities of Practice, and technical workshops.
• Contribute to proof-of-concepts, innovation initiatives, and process improvements.
• Champion a quality-first culture and continuously raise testing standards across the organization.
