Technical Sales Engineer

Key Responsibilities

A. Sales & Business Development

• Develop new customers and business opportunities in the assigned territory.
• Visit customers regularly to understand their machining requirements and upcoming projects.
• Promote and sell cutting tools such as:
• Taps and threading tools
• Carbide turning inserts and holders
• Milling cutters and indexable milling tools
• Special cutting tools
• Hole-making and special application tools
• Prepare quotations and follow up on enquiries, offers and purchase orders.
• Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
• Develop business with existing customers and identify opportunities for additional products.
• Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide regular sales reports.

B. Application Engineering

• Understand customer machining applications, components, materials and machine conditions.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, grades, geometries and tool holders based on the application.
• Recommend suitable cutting parameters such as:
• Cutting speed (Vc)
• Spindle speed (RPM)
• Feed / feed per tooth
• Depth of cut
• Coolant conditions
• Conduct cutting tool trials at customer locations.
• Monitor tool performance, tool life, productivity and machining quality.
• Optimize machining parameters to improve productivity and reduce machining costs.
• Troubleshoot problems such as:
• Excessive tool wear
• Chipping and breakage
• Built-up edge
• Poor surface finish
• Vibration / chatter
• Chip control issues
• Dimensional variation
• Low tool life
