Job Description
- Identify and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for engineering materials.
- Purchase raw materials such as MS, EN8, EN19, SS, pipes, rods, seals, fasteners and other engineering components.
- Obtain quotations from suppliers and negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs).
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Coordinate with the production, stores and accounts departments for material requirements.
- Compare quotations and prepare comparative statements.
- Maintain purchase records, supplier databases and procurement documentation.
- Monitor material prices and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure purchased materials meet the required quality and technical specifications.
- Handle supplier-related issues, shortages, delays and material rejections.
- Verify supplier invoices and coordinate with the accounts department for payment processing.
- Required SkillsGood negotiation and communication skills.
- Knowledge of engineering materials and industrial components.
- Basic understanding of mechanical drawings and material specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
- Knowledge of ERP / Inventory Management software will be an advantage.
- Good vendor management and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple purchase requirements.
- Preferred Candidate Profile2–5 years of experience in purchase/procurement in a manufacturing or engineering company.
- Experience in purchasing mechanical and hydraulic components will be preferred.
- Should be systematic, responsible and cost-conscious.
- Should have good coordination skills with suppliers and internal departments.
