Job Description
- Key Responsibilities
- Develop new fashion collections and styles for European buyers and international brands.
- Research European fashion trends, market directions, colours, fabrics and silhouettes.
- Create mood boards, colour boards, theme boards and seasonal concepts.
- Develop design concepts from initial idea through sampling and final production.
- Prepare detailed fashion sketches, technical details and design specifications.
- Select appropriate fabrics, trims, accessories, prints, embroideries and embellishments.
- Work closely with merchandising, sampling, pattern, CAD, production and sourcing teams.
- Coordinate with buyers and merchandising teams to understand design briefs and product requirements.
- Develop commercially viable styles according to buyer price points and target markets.
- Review samples and provide design comments/modifications to achieve the required look and fit.
- Ensure designs are aligned with European fashion aesthetics, quality standards and brand guidelines.
- Participate in product development meetings and collection reviews.
- Maintain seasonal design libraries, trend references and product archives.
- Monitor competitor collections and identify new opportunities for product development.
- Ensure timely completion of design developments according to sampling and shipment schedules.
- Required Skills
- Strong understanding of European fashion and international apparel trends.
- Good knowledge of women's wear / kidswear / fashion apparel.
- Excellent understanding of fabrics, trims, garment construction and finishing.
- Strong knowledge of silhouettes, colour combinations, prints and embellishments.
- Ability to create commercially viable designs rather than only conceptual designs.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple developments simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Experience working with export houses and international buyers will be preferred.
