MRF Centre Supervisor (Waste Management) – Central Delhi
Position: Supervisor – Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Centre
Location: Central Delhi, Delhi
Reports to: MRF Centre Manager / Operations Manager
Team Size: 5–20 staff (sorters, helpers, machine operators, drivers as applicable)
Role OverviewThe MRF Supervisor is responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the Material Recovery Facility in central Delhi, ensuring efficient segregation, processing, and dispatch of recyclable and non-recyclable waste while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance with municipal and company standards.indeed+3
The role combines frontline people management, coordination with officers and engineers, and basic computer-based data entry for attendance, production, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Management & Operations
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of 5–20 workers involved in waste segregation, sorting, baling, loading/unloading, and housekeeping.
- Allocate work, set daily targets, and monitor productivity and quality of output (e.g., purity of sorted streams, bale weights).
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and environmental guidelines at the MRF.
- Handle shift scheduling, break rotations, and arrange alternate coverage in case of absenteeism or equipment failure.
- Train new staff on sorting standards, safety practices, and use of equipment; provide on-the-job coaching and performance feedback.
2. Interaction with Officers, Engineers & Stakeholders
- Act as the primary on-site contact for municipal officers, SWM engineers, and visiting officials from the local body/ULB.
- Coordinate with engineers and maintenance teams on equipment issues, breakdowns, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Support inspections, audits, and compliance checks by providing records, access, and explanations of operations.
- Liaise with transport vendors, collection teams, and buyers of recyclables to ensure timely inbound/outbound operations.
3. Data Entry, Attendance & Reporting
- Mark daily attendance of all staff (manual and/or computer-based) and ensure accuracy for payroll processing.
- Enter operational data into the computer system: quantity of waste received, sorted output by category, bales produced, dispatch details, and downtime incidents.
- Maintain site registers/logs and digital records as required (e.g., weighbridge slips, fuel/consumable usage, incident reports).
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly reports to the MRF Manager on productivity, quality, safety incidents, and manpower.
4. Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Enforce use of PPE (gloves, masks, shoes, uniforms) and safe working practices; stop unsafe acts immediately.
- Ensure proper segregation of hazardous/non-hazardous waste and compliance with local regulations and company policies.
- Monitor contamination levels in sorted streams and take corrective actions to meet quality specifications for recyclables.
- Report accidents, injuries, and near-misses; assist in investigations and implementation of corrective measures.
5. Site & Resource Management
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and discipline within the MRF premises and surrounding area.
- Monitor usage of fuel, consumables, and inventory; prevent misuse, pilferage, and wastage.
- Ensure basic upkeep of machinery and equipment; log faults and coordinate timely repairs.
- Escalate operational issues (manpower shortage, major breakdowns, complaints from residents/officers) to the Manager promptly.
