Position: Shopkeeper / Store Executive

Location: Footwear Retail & Wholesale Store

Reporting To: Store Manager / Management

1. JOB PURPOSETo efficiently manage the day-to-day operations of the footwear retail and wholesale store, including customer handling, sales, stock management, billing, display, housekeeping and coordination with wholesale customers.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Customer Handling & Sales

• Welcome and assist customers professionally.
• Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable footwear.
• Explain product features, sizes, materials, safety features, pricing and warranty terms.
• Handle retail and wholesale customers effectively.
• Generate sales and work towards achieving store sales targets.
• Maintain good relationships with regular customers and dealers.

B. Product & Stock Management

• Receive and verify incoming footwear stock.
• Check product quantity, size, colour, model and condition.
• Maintain proper arrangement of footwear according to model, size and category.
• Monitor stock levels and inform management about low-stock items.
• Assist in physical stock counting and reconciliation.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of products.

C. Billing & Cash Handling

• Prepare bills/invoices accurately.
• Collect cash, UPI, card or other approved payments.
• Maintain daily sales and collection records.
• Ensure cash and payment records are properly reconciled.
• Coordinate with accounts for pending payments and wholesale invoices.

D. Wholesale Order Management

• Receive wholesale enquiries and orders.
• Prepare order details according to customer requirements.
• Check availability before confirming orders.
• Coordinate packing and dispatch of wholesale orders.
• Follow up with customers regarding orders, payments and deliveries.

E. Store Display & Housekeeping

• Maintain an attractive and organized product display.
• Keep shelves, counters and footwear samples clean.
• Ensure correct price/product information is displayed.
• Maintain overall store cleanliness and discipline.
• Ensure products are protected from damage, dust and improper handling.

F. Returns, Exchanges & Complaints

• Handle customer complaints politely and professionally.
• Process returns/exchanges strictly according to company policy.
• Inspect returned products before accepting them.
• Coordinate warranty-related matters with management.
• Do not commit any refund, replacement or warranty outside company policy without approval.
• 3. DAILY STORE RESPONSIBILITIESOpening and closing of the store as instructed.
• Check opening stock and important product requirements.
• Maintain daily sales and stock records.
• Follow up on pending orders and customer enquiries.
• Maintain proper product display throughout the day.
• Complete end-of-day sales, cash and stock reconciliation.
• Report any shortage, damage, discrepancy or unusual activity immediately.
• 4. REQUIRED SKILLSGood communication and customer-handling skills.
• Basic knowledge of footwear products and sizes.
• Basic computer and billing/POS knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of WhatsApp and digital payment systems.
• Good numerical and record-keeping ability.
• Honest, punctual and responsible.
• Ability to handle both retail customers and wholesale dealers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• 5. EXPERIENCEPreferred: 1–3 years of experience in footwear, retail, wholesale or general store operations.
• Freshers with good communication and sales skills may also be considered.

6. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSThe employee is expected to:

• Maintain accurate stock and sales records.
• Provide professional customer service.
• Minimize stock discrepancies and product damage.
• Maintain store cleanliness and product presentation.
• Support achievement of store sales targets.
• Maintain discipline, punctuality and confidentiality.

7. IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIESThe Shopkeeper is responsible for the safe custody and proper handling of company stock, cash, documents, billing records and store assets assigned to them.

Any stock shortage, cash discrepancy, damage, unauthorized discount, incorrect billing or other irregularity must be immediately reported to management.
