Mechanical Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities:

1. Electro mechanical Assembly Expertise

 Lead manufacturing and assembly of high-precision aerospace motors including:

o BLDC / AC / DC motors

o Servo motors / actuators

o High-speed rotating systems

 Deep understanding of:

o Rotor-stator assembly alignment

o Dynamic balancing (G-level accuracy)

o Bearing selection, preload, lubrication techniques

o Winding processes, insulation systems, varnishing

 Address critical parameters:

o Runout, concentricity, vibration limits

o Thermal expansion & heat dissipation

o Noise and performance stability

 Ensure compliance with aerospace tolerances and traceability requirements

2. Electro-Mechanical Systems Integration

 Manage full assembly lifecycle of electro-mechanical products, including:

o Motors + Controllers + Harnessing + Sensors

 Integration challenges:

o EMI/EMC considerations

o Thermal and structural interactions

o Precision fitment of mechanical + electrical interfaces

 Validate system-level performance under:

o Vibration, shock, thermal cycling

o Endurance / life-cycle testing

3. Advanced NPI & Industrialization

 Lead end-to-end aerospace NPI programs:

o Design transfer → Proto → EVT / DVT / PVT → Mass production

 Drive:

o DFM / DFA optimization

o Manufacturing readiness reviews (MRR)

o Risk mitigation plans (DFMEA / PFMEA)

 Establish:

o Process flow diagrams, control plans, work instructions

 Ensure readiness for:

o AS9100 audit compliance

o First-time-right production

4. Engineering Drawings & CAD Mastery

 Expert-level capability in CAD drawing reading and interpretation:

o GD&T (ASME Y14.5 standard preferred)

o Tolerance stack-up analysis

o Critical-to-function feature identification

 Ability to:

o Identify manufacturability risks directly from drawings

o Suggest design corrections for assembly feasibility

 Work with tools:

o Creo / NX / SolidWorks

 Drive engineering change management (ECR/ECO)

5. Tools, Jigs & Fixture Development (Critical Skill Area)

 Design and validate:

o Assembly fixtures (alignment, press-fit tools)

o Coil winding fixtures

o Rotor balancing setups

 Knowledge of:

o Pneumatic / hydraulic tools

o Torque control systems

o Automated assembly stations

 Focus on:

o Error-proofing (poka-yoke)

o Repeatability & precision

o Cycle time reduction

6. FAIR, Quality & Aerospace Compliance

 Lead FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) execution as per AS9102

 Strong exposure to:

o AS9100, NADCAP (preferred)

 Drive:

o APQP, PPAP (adapted for aerospace)

o Control of special processes

 Perform:

o Root cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why)

o Failure investigations (fractography, wear analysis, misalignment)

7. Supplier Development & Field Problem Resolution

 Extensive travel to supplier and customer locations for:

o Process audits

o Technical issue resolution

o Qualification activities

 Manage:

o Supplier capability assessments

o Critical component validation (laminations, bearings, shafts)

 Act as technical leader in:

o Customer escalations

o On-site troubleshooting of assembly failures

8. Team Leadership & Execution Excellence

 Lead cross-functional teams:

o Mechanical / Manufacturing / Quality engineers

 Drive:

o Performance management

o Capability building (technical mentoring)

 Establish:

o Strong engineering governance

o Structured problem-solving culture
