Field Service Technician

Position Overview:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi, CCTV, Video Door Phone (VDP), and networking systems at residential project sites.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Wi-Fi & Networking

• Conduct site surveys and understand project network requirements.
• Install,configure, and commission Wi-Fi Access Points, routers, and switches.
• Perform LAN cable continuity testing and identify connectivity issues.
• Configure LAN, VLANs, IP addressing, DHCP, and other required network settings.
• Perform Wi-Fi testing, coverage validation, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure proper cabling, network rack installation, patch panel termination, dressing, and labeling.
• Verify network connectivity and performance before project handover.

2. CCTV Systems

• Install,configure, test, and commission IP cameras, NVRs, PoE switches, and storage devices.
• Configure camera IP addresses, recording schedules, resolution, storage settings,     and remote viewing.
• Troubleshoot camera connectivity, recording, network, and hardware-related issues.
• Ensure proper camera positioning and required surveillance coverage as per     approved drawings.
• Perform system testing and client demonstrations before project handover.

3. Video Door Phone (VDP)

• Install,configure, test, and commission indoor and outdoor VDP units.
• Configure calling, door unlocking, mobile application access, and network     connectivity.
• Coordinate with automation and electrical teams for system integration requirements.
• Troubleshoot communication, connectivity, and device-related issues.
• Ensure proper functionality of VDP systems before handover.

4. Troubleshooting & Technical Support

• Attend technical issues at project sites and provide timely resolution.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot network, Wi-Fi, CCTV, and VDP-related issues.
• Identify root causes and take corrective action to avoid repeat issues.
• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for product-level technical support when required.
• Maintain issue reports and ensure closure within defined timelines.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain installation, testing, and commissioning reports.
• Update project progress and report delays, risks, and technical challenges.
• Maintain IP addressing details, network topology, and device configuration records.
• Prepare testing, commissioning, and handover documents.
• Obtain client confirmation and sign-off after successful project completion.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of Networking fundamentals.
• Ability to install and configure Wi-Fi Access Points, routers, managed switches, and PoE switches.
• Knowledge of LAN, VLANs, TCP/IP, IP addressing, DHCP, and network connectivity.
• Ability to perform LAN cable continuity testing and basic network troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of IP CCTV systems, NVRs, IP cameras, storage, and remote monitoring.
• Knowledge of Video Door Phone (VDP) systems and mobile application configuration.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and understand network drawings, layouts, and BOQs.
• Good coordination and communication skills with internal teams, vendors, builders, and clients.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple project sites.

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, IT, or Networking.
• 1+ years of relevant experience in Networking.
