Credit Manager

We are looking for a Credit Manager to manage and oversee the credit assessment and underwriting process for short-term personal loans. The role will be responsible for evaluating customer creditworthiness, ensuring quality lending decisions, managing credit risk, and maintaining a healthy loan portfolio while following the company's credit policies and regulatory requirements.

• Key ResponsibilitiesAssess and evaluate loan applications based on customer profile, income, employment, banking, bureau and other relevant information.
• Analyze credit reports, repayment history, FOIR, income stability and other credit parameters.
• Review customer documents and identify discrepancies, fraud indicators or potential credit risks.
• Take appropriate credit decisions within the assigned authority and company credit policy.
• Ensure proper adherence to underwriting guidelines, approval matrix and risk policies.
• Monitor loan portfolio performance, including delinquencies, bounce rates, roll rates and collections trends.
• Identify high-risk customer segments and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.
• Work closely with the Operations, Sales, Collections, Fraud and Risk teams to improve portfolio quality.
• Review exceptions and deviations and ensure proper approvals are obtained.
• Prepare and maintain credit MIS and periodic portfolio performance reports.
• Analyze credit data and trends to identify opportunities for improving underwriting quality.
• Recommend changes to credit policies, eligibility criteria, scorecards and approval processes based on portfolio performance.
• Conduct regular reviews of credit decisions and identify areas for process improvement.
• Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness of credit processes.
• Support management in developing strategies to maintain a balance between business growth and credit risk.
• Ensure compliance with applicable company policies and lending regulations.
• Skills RequiredStrong knowledge of credit underwriting and consumer lending.
• Good understanding of personal loans / short-term lending products.
• Ability to analyze credit bureau reports, bank statements, income and customer profiles.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of credit risk assessment and portfolio monitoring.
• Good command of MS Excel and credit MIS.
• Ability to identify credit risks, inconsistencies and potential fraud indicators.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
• Good understanding of lending policies, processes and compliance requirements.
• Qualification & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in credit underwriting, credit risk, personal loans, consumer lending or NBFC/FinTech lending.
• Experience with digital lending/short-term personal loans will be an added advantage.
