Embedded Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Embedded Systems / IoT Engineer specializing in industrial data acquisition. In this role, you will bridge the gap between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT). You will deploy directly to manufacturing plants to extract real-time operational data from PLCs and SCADA systems, build or configure edge gateways, and transmit this critical data to our cloud infrastructure via secure Web APIs. You will work in close coordination with our Software Development Team to ensure seamless pipeline integration and end-to-end data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• On-Site Plant Deployment: Travel to various manufacturing facilities to evaluate, install, and commission hardware/software edge solutions for real-time data extraction.
• Industrial Protocol Extraction: Establish connections and pull live telemetry data from diverse PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi) and SCADA networks (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC).
• Edge Firmware & Logic Development: Write and optimize efficient firmware (C/C++, Python) for IoT edge gateways and microcontrollers to sample, filter, and parse industrial protocol data (Modbus, OPC UA, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP).
• API Integration: Package acquired raw industrial data into structured formats (like JSON) and securely transmit it over the network using protocols such as MQTT, HTTP REST APIs, or WebSockets.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with back-end Software Developers to align on API data contracts, payload structures, authentication tokens, and edge-to-cloud debugging.
• Troubleshooting & Optimization: Diagnose edge network dropouts, electrical noise issues, protocol mismatches, and data latency challenges directly on the shop floor.
• Documentation: Create thorough system architecture diagrams, mapping sheets for PLC tags, data dictionaries, and field deployment manuals.
