Job Description
About the role
We are building out a 3-storey commercial space in Dehradun. The core structure is complete and interior work (electrical, carpentry, civil finishing, etc.) is currently in progress. We need a Site Engineer to be present on-site daily to supervise the remaining work, manage inventory and materials, coordinate with contractors and tradespeople, and report progress to management every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day interior work across all 3 floors and ensure it matches the approved design and execution plan.
- Track and manage inventory: incoming materials, stock on site, usage, and wastage. Maintain a running stock register.
- Conduct regular stock-taking and flag shortages or discrepancies before they delay work.
- Coordinate daily with electricians, carpenters, civil workers, and other contractors to keep work on schedule.
- Follow up on pending tasks and unblock delays (missing material, workers not showing up, quality issues, etc.)
- Check work quality against the plan/drawings before marking any task complete.
- Prepare and send a daily progress report over WhatsApp to management, covering: work completed, work pending, issues faced, and material/stock status.
- Raise any budget, timeline, or quality risks early to management, not after the fact.
- Maintain basic records of measurements, work done, and payments due to contractors/labour (as applicable).
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent hands-on site experience).
- 2–5 years of experience supervising construction or interior fit-out sites.
- Comfortable working directly with electricians, carpenters, masons, and other tradespeople on-site (not just office-based coordination).
- Basic understanding of reading building/interior drawings and BOQs.
- Disciplined about daily reporting and follow-up — this role will not work with someone who reports irregularly or vaguely.
- Comfortable using WhatsApp for daily reporting (photos of site progress expected along with written updates).
