SolidWork Designer

1. Job Purpose

To develop 3D models, 2D engineering drawings, sheet metal designs, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks for stainless-steel hot boxes, cookware, kitchen equipment, and other company products. Ensure designs are accurate, cost-effective, and suitable for production.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Product Design & Development

• Create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design stainless-steel products, cookware, hot boxes, and kitchen equipment.
• Develop sheet metal components, assemblies, and fabrication drawings.
• Prepare detailed drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and surface finish requirements.
• Modify existing designs based on customer requirements and management instructions.

B. Sheet Metal & Manufacturing Design

• Prepare sheet metal designs, flat patterns, and bend details.
• Understand sheet metal operations such as cutting, punching, bending, pressing, welding, grinding, and polishing.
• Develop designs suitable for production machinery, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure proper fitment, assembly, and functionality of designed components.
• Coordinate with Production, Tool Room, Quality, and other departments to resolve design-related issues.

C. Technical Documentation

• Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and exploded views.
• Maintain product drawings, revision history, and design records.
• Prepare technical documents required for production and quality inspection.
• Ensure approved drawings are shared with the relevant departments.

D. Cost Reduction & Continuous Improvement

• Suggest design improvements to reduce material wastage and production costs.
• Optimize stainless-steel sheet utilization and component design.
• Support prototype development, product testing, and new product introduction.
• Identify and resolve design errors before production commencement.

E. Coordination & Support

• Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Quality, Sales, and Tool Room teams.
• Support production trials and sample development.
• Incorporate customer feedback and engineering changes into product designs.
• Ensure designs meet quality standards and delivery schedules.

3. Educational Qualification

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.

4. Experience

• Preferably 2–5 years of experience in SolidWorks design.
• Experience in stainless-steel fabrication, sheet metal products, cookware, kitchen equipment, or similar manufacturing industries will be preferred.
• Freshers with strong SolidWorks skills may be considered based on company requirements.

5. Technical Skills Required

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
• Knowledge of sheet metal design, assemblies, and flat pattern development.
• Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications.
• Knowledge of stainless-steel grades and sheet thickness selection.
• Ability to prepare BOMs and manufacturing drawings.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production feasibility.
