Sr. QC Engineer

A Fabrication Workshop QC Engineer inspects raw metals, monitors welding and assembly, and ensures finished steel or mechanical structures match design blueprints and industry codes.

Job Overview

• Role: Quality Control (QC) Engineer - Fabrication Workshop
• Location : Rourkela, Odisha
• Industry: Heavy Engineering, Metal Fabrication, Manufacturing, or Construction
• Core Goal: Verify that all raw materials, in-process assemblies, and final products comply with engineering drawings and quality standards. [1, 2]

Key Responsibilities

• Incoming Material Inspection: Check raw steel plates, pipes, and profiles for grade, dimensions, and mill test certificates (MTC).
• Weld & Fit-up Inspection: Monitor joint preparation, fit-up tolerances, and oversee welding operations (visual checks and coordination of NDT - Non-Destructive Testing).
• In-Process & Final Checks: Perform dimensional checks using calibrated measuring tools before final coating or dispatch.
• Non-Conformance Reports (NCR): Document defects, stop non-compliant work, and track root-cause corrective actions (CAPA).
• Documentation: Maintain inspection test plans (ITP), check sheets, and compile data record books for client handover. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Experience: 5 to 10 years of hands-on workshop experience in structural or mechanical fabrication.
• Skills: Strong reading of blueprints/isometric drawings, familiarity with ISO standards, and clear communication.
