Roles and Responsibilities

A. Daily Price Intelligence & VPI Publication

• Read and record opening prices from MCX India (Aluminium, Copper, Nickel, Zinc, Lead) every morning before 8:15 AM.
• Download and review ISA (Indian Steel Association) Weekly Circular every Monday — update billet price and pig iron price anchors in the VPI pricing model.
• Check Bigmint India's daily ferrous scrap assessment and cross-validate against internally computed VPI-B prices before publishing.
• Monitor LME (London Metal Exchange) overnight for directional moves in non-ferrous metals — anticipate MCX opening before markets open.
• Collect morning mandi call inputs from the BD team (3 South India clusters minimum: Coimbatore, Hosur, Peenya).
• Run VPI formula model (Google Sheet / Excel) with the day's inputs and publish the morning VPI table to BD and Sales teams by 9:00 AM every working day — without exception.
• Issue Intraday VPI Alerts when MCX or ISA moves >2% during trading hours — BD and Sales must not confirm major trades without an updated VPI.

B. Deviation Management & Approvals

• Receive pricing deviation requests from BD (wants to offer above VPI-B) or Sales (wants to sell below VPI-S).
• Evaluate each deviation: is it justified by volume premium, grade reclassification, or benchmark movement? Approve within threshold or escalate to Operations Officer / Founder with analysis and recommendation.
• Maintain a Deviation Register — running log of every exception with requester, reason, approval authority, and transaction outcome.

C. Zoho Books Data & Transaction Discipline

• Ensure every completed transaction is logged in Zoho Books with mandatory tags: grade, cluster, contamination level, VPI-B applied, actual buy price, VPI-S quoted, actual sell price, and benchmark rate on that day.
• Pull daily Zoho transaction report at 5:00 PM — verify all tags are complete. Chase BD/Sales for any missing entries within 24 hours.

D. Weekly VPI Calibration Report

• Every Friday: pull week's Zoho data and analyse actual buy prices vs VPI-B per grade, actual sell prices vs VPI-S, and realised gross margin vs target spread.
• Identify grades where the formula consistently over- or under-estimates by >₹2/kg — flag for recalibration.
• Prepare a one-page VPI Calibration Report and distribute to Founder, Operations Officer, and team leads by 5 PM Friday.

E. Market Intelligence & Continuous Research

• Read Alcircle, SteelOrbis, Bigmint, and MRAI publications 3–4 times per week — extract anything that may affect South India scrap prices in the next 2–4 weeks.
• Maintain a running Market Intelligence Notes file — brief the Founder on 3–4 key market developments weekly.
• Conduct a monthly buyer intelligence call with one major recycler or IF mill — understand current buying appetite, quality feedback, and pricing sentiment.
