Job Description
A CNC turning operator sets up, runs, and monitors computer numerical control (CNC) lathe machines to shape metal parts.
Set up machines: Install chucks, tools, and adjust machine settings for turning operations.
Load materials: Place raw stock or bars into the lathe feed mechanism.
Operate equipment: Run test cuts, monitor speed and feeds, and execute machining cycles (facing, turning, threading).
Inspect parts: Measure finished workpieces using micrometers and calipers to verify they match blueprints.
Maintain equipment: Clean the machine, check coolant levels, and report mechanical issues.
