Job Description
- Prepare and process patient bills for consultations, procedures, diagnostics, pharmacy, room charges, and other hospital services.
- Verify patient details, service charges, discounts, deposits, and billing entries.
- Collect payments through cash, card, UPI, and other approved payment methods.
- Generate invoices, receipts, refunds, and payment acknowledgements.
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, pharmacy, laboratory, insurance/TPA, and accounts departments to resolve billing issues.
- Handle inpatient and outpatient billing accurately.
- Explain billing details and payment requirements clearly to patients and their attendants.
- Process insurance and TPA-related documentation and coordinate for approvals and claim requirements.
- Monitor patient deposits and outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate billing records and daily collection reports.
- Ensure compliance with hospital billing policies and financial procedures.
- Address patient billing queries professionally and escalate complex issues when required.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information.
- Required SkillsGood knowledge of hospital billing procedures.
- Basic understanding of insurance/TPA processes.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Basic computer and MS Office skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle patient-related queries calmly.
- Knowledge of hospital billing software/ERP is an advantage.
