Process Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Engineering & Design

• Carry out basic engineering: process flow diagrams (PFDs), heat & material balances,

equipment sizing.

• Perform detailed engineering: equipment datasheets, specifications, operating philosophies,

and line sizing.

• Develop and review P&IDs with process safety considerations (PSV sizing, flare

load calculations, interlock philosophy).

• Perform process simulations using Aspen Plus / Aspen HYSYS for steady-state and

dynamic cases.

2. Thermal Design & Equipment Sizing

• Conduct thermal design, rating, and optimization of heat exchangers using HTRI software.

• Familiarity with TEMA, API, and ASME standards for thermal and mechanical

design integration.

3. Project Execution

• Provide process input to multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, piping, civil,

E&I, instrumentation).

• Support procurement with technical bid evaluations and vendor data review.

• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and design review meetings.

• Ensure deliverables meet project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.

4. Codes, Standards, and Compliance

• Apply knowledge of process design codes: ASME, API, TEMA, IS, IEC, NFPA (as applicable).

• Ensure designs meet statutory, client, and industry safety standards.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Aspen Plus / Aspen HYSYS for process simulations.

• Proficiency in HTRI for thermal design of heat exchangers.

• Strong grasp of heat & mass transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.

• Knowledge of process control, instrumentation requirements, and process safety.

• Ability to prepare & interpret PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, and process narratives.
