Job Description

Sr Legal, Manager

Department – Legal, Compliance & Quality
Location - Bangalore
Novo Nordisk India Pvt Ltd (Affiliate)

Navigate complex legal landscapes and help protect a company that's transforming health for millions of patients across the globe.

Your new role

As Sr Legal, Manager you will serve as a trusted legal advisor across a broad range of matters — from litigation and regulatory compliance to contract management and data privacy. You will play a key role in safeguarding the business while enabling it to operate with speed and confidence in a fast-evolving regulatory environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting legal research, advising on routine and complex legal questions, and instituting, defending and reviewing legal cases across multiple jurisdictions
  • Liaising with statutory and judicial authorities, appearing before them when required, and coordinating responses to criminal complaints, enquiries and investigations
  • Interpreting and implementing pharma law requirements, data privacy regulations, and competition law compliance — including impact assessments on business operations and response plans
  • Advising on critical regulations such as the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, FCPA, UK Anti-Bribery Act, Environment Protection Act and Sunshine Act, while monitoring statutory developments affecting the pharmaceutical industry
  • Managing the full contract lifecycle — drafting, reviewing, negotiating, customising global templates to local requirements, and archiving agreements
  • Conducting training and workshops to disseminate legal requirements and raise awareness of compliance obligations across the organisation
  • Supporting internal audits, coordinating dawn raid training, and advising on human rights compliance and internal policy amendments

Your new department

As part of International Operations, you will join our largest operational unit. Covering 194 countries and 95% of the world's population, more than 18,000 of us work passionately to serve 35 million patients each day. With a promise to outperform the competition, we continue to be the growth driver for Novo Nordisk, and to improve health at scale across the globe.

You will be part of the Legal & Compliance team at Novo Nordisk. Our department ensures the organisation complies with the legal and regulatory requirements of the countries in which we operate — providing counsel and support in areas including corporate law, business litigation, compliance, employment and labour law, data privacy, and more. We work in a dynamic, collaborative environment closely partnering with various functions to protect and enable Novo Nordisk's mission.

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for an experienced legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, regulated environment and brings a strong sense of ownership. You'll bring with you:

  • A Graduate degree in Law (LLB, full-time) as a minimum requirement
  • 12+ years' experience in legal litigation, labour disputes, contracting and data privacy — ideally within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • Strong knowledge of Indian pharmaceutical regulations, competition law, data privacy frameworks and broader statutory compliance
  • Self-drive and strong personal motivation, with the ability to inspire colleagues towards delivering excellent performance and continuous improvement
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders — both internal and external — at all levels.
