UPS Project Job Description

 

Position: UPS Project Engineer / Sr. Engineer

 

Education:- BE/ B-Tech/ Diploma- Electrical Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Power Electronics Engineering. 

 

Overview:-

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, commissioning, and handing over UPS projects. 

The candidate must possess strong technical knowledge of Online 3-Phase UPS systems, project management capability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Project Planning & Execution

1. Study and understand project BOM, system configuration, site wiring, and site layout received from the Sales team / customer and ensure successful implementation at site.
2. Prepare project execution plans, schedules, resource allocation plans, and monitor milestones to ensure timely completion.
3. Coordinate with Project Managers, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Execute installations in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
5. Responsible for coordinating large-scale Data Centre, Industrial, and IT infrastructure projects.
6. Prepare and submit project documentation including Method Statements, HIRA, and Lifting Plans

Commissioning & Handover

1. Own the complete commissioning process and final system handover to customers.
2. Coordinate L2, L3, L4 and IST commissioning activities during SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
3. Coordinate Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and Site Acceptance Tests with load banks
4. Conduct SAT demonstrations and customer acceptance activities for UPS systems up to 1200 kVA capacity.
5. Deliver operational and maintenance training to customer facility teams.

Coordination & Communication

1. Coordinate with vendors, PMC teams, consultants, contractors, and customers during project execution.
2. Coordinate internally with SCM, Logistics, Quality, Service, and other support functions.
3. Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation plans.

Documentation & Compliance

1. Maintain complete project documentation including plans, reports, commissioning records, and handover documents.
2. Ensure all project activities comply with applicable standards, customer requirements, and company quality guidelines.
3. Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.

Business Development Support

1. Identify opportunities for value-added services including panels, cables, accessories, batteries, and service contracts.
2. Generate and communicate potential business opportunities to the sales and service teams.

 

 

UPS Service Engineer Job Description

 

Position: UPS Service Engineer / Sr. Engineer

Overview:-

The UPS Service Engineer is responsible for carrying out scheduled preventive maintenance activities to maximize system reliability, optimize performance, reduce downtime, and ensure compliance with service contracts and customer requirements also responsible for responding to emergency breakdown calls, diagnosing faults, restoring system operation, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safe execution of corrective maintenance activities.

 

Key Points:- 

1. Attend breakdown calls and emergency service requests within committed SLA response times and contractual obligations. 
2. Provide on-site support for Time & Material breakdown cases.
3. Coordinate with technical support teams for critical fault escalations.
4. Ensure 100% completion of scheduled preventive maintenance activities within contractual timelines and company-defined service schedules. 
5. Maintain high-quality maintenance standards through accurate inspections, thorough servicing, and adherence to established maintenance procedures. 
6. Proactively identify potential equipment failures, performance degradation, and reliability risks, and recommend corrective actions before system outages occur. 
7. Deliver professional service and technical support to achieve or exceed targeted customer satisfaction ratings.
8. Minimize equipment downtime by diagnosing faults efficiently and restoring UPS systems within targeted repair timelines.
9. Achieve a high percentage of first-visit resolutions through effective troubleshooting, technical expertise, and proper spare parts planning. 
10. Ensure timely closure of breakdown cases by completing fault rectification, documentation, root cause analysis, and customer sign-off within defined service targets.
11. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by providing responsive support, clear communication, and effective problem resolution during critical service events.
12. Maintain daily Time sheet, Call Closure in FSM Application. 

 

Technical Skills:- 

1. Strong understanding of Online 3-Phase UPS Systems.
2. Knowledge of UPS architecture up to 1200 kVA.
3. Knowledge of Data Centre electrical infrastructure.
4. Understanding of batteries, STS, switchgear, and power distribution systems.
5. Experience in commissioning and servicing critical power equipment.
6. Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
