We are currently seeking a Data Engineer Senior Advisor to join our team in Pune, Mahārāshtra (IN-MH), India (IN).

Role – L3 Support Team Lead / Senior Data Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced L3 Support Team Lead / Senior Data Engineer to lead the Level 3 production support function for a modern cloud-based data platform.

The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on data engineering expertise with technical leadership and production support experience. The role will be responsible for resolving complex production issues, performing root cause analysis, improving platform reliability and performance, optimizing Snowflake costs, and driving continuous improvement and automation across the support landscape.

The candidate should have strong expertise in Snowflake and modern data engineering technologies, including Streamlit, Snowflake Cortex, dbt, Kafka/Snowpipe Streaming, GitHub, AWS or GCP services, and Observe/Streamline dashboarding solutions.

Key Responsibilities

L3 Production Support & Technical Leadership

• Lead the L3 support team responsible for the production data platform and associated applications.
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex data, application, integration, and performance-related incidents.
• Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues within agreed SLA timelines.
• Coordinate with L1/L2 support, engineering, infrastructure, cloud, security, and business teams during incident resolution.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major incidents and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Identify recurring production issues and drive permanent fixes, automation, and platform improvements.
• Establish and maintain operational runbooks, troubleshooting guides, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
• Mentor team members and provide technical guidance on data engineering and Snowflake-related issues.
• Support incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
• Participate in or coordinate on-call and production support activities as required.

Snowflake & Data Engineering

• Provide hands-on engineering and production support for solutions built on Snowflake.
• Troubleshoot complex SQL, data pipeline, data quality, ingestion, transformation, and performance issues.
• Performance tuning and cost optimisation within Snowflake
• Work with dbt within the Snowflake ecosystem for data transformation, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Support and enhance applications developed using Streamlit, particularly Streamlit applications integrated with Snowflake.
• Understand, troubleshoot, and enhance solutions leveraging Snowflake Cortex / Cortex AI capabilities.
• Support real-time and near-real-time data ingestion using Kafka and Snowpipe Streaming.
• Analyze pipeline failures, data latency, schema changes, data quality issues, and downstream impacts.

Cloud, DevOps & Automation

• Strong working knowledge of GitHub and Git-based development practices, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD processes.
• Experience with relevant AWS services, particularly serverless and integration services such as AWS Lambda.
• Working understanding of equivalent services within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Automate repetitive support and operational activities wherever possible.
• Work closely with engineering teams to improve deployment, monitoring, rollback, and recovery processes.

Monitoring & Reporting

• Develop and maintain dashboards and alerts for proactive monitoring of the data platform.
• Build or enhance operational dashboards to provide visibility into pipeline health, failures, data latency, platform performance, SLA adherence, and Snowflake consumption/cost.

Leadership & Operational Skills

The candidate should demonstrate:

• Strong technical leadership and team management capabilities.
• Ability to remain hands-on while leading an L3 engineering/support team.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex production issues across multiple technology layers.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple production incidents and engineering activities.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical issues, business impact, root causes, and remediation plans clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A continuous-improvement mindset with emphasis on automation, reliability, performance, scalability, and cost optimization.
• Ability to mentor engineers and improve the overall technical capability of the support team.

Experience

• 8-10+ years of overall experience in data engineering, data platforms, or related technologies.
• 4-6+ years of strong hands-on experience with Snowflake-based data platforms.
• Previous experience working in an L3 production support / application support environment.
• Experience leading or technically managing a team of data engineers or production support engineers.
• Experience supporting business-critical enterprise data platforms.
• Experience operating within ITIL-based incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
• Experience working with distributed teams and coordinating with application, infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and business stakeholders.

The candidate is expected to be technically strong enough to investigate production issues at code, SQL, data pipeline, Snowflake, streaming, and cloud-service levels, while simultaneously providing leadership and direction to the wider support team.
