Job Description

Associate Financial Analyst III

Are you a finance professional with a sharp analytical mind and a passion for making complex data tell a compelling story? Do you thrive in a dynamic, globally connected environment where your insights directly shape business strategy? If so, this could be the role for you. Join Swiss Re's Life & Health FP&A team in Bangalore and become a key player in driving sustainable financial performance across one of the world's leading reinsurance businesses.

About the Role

As an Associate Financial Analyst III within the Life & Health Financial Planning & Analysis (L&H FP&A) team, you will be part of a talented pool of analysts responsible for analyzing the financial performance of the Business Unit Life & Health Reinsurance (BU L&H Re). You will partner closely with client managers, underwriters, and senior stakeholders across global markets — initially focusing on a specific region (Americas, EMEA, Asia) — to deliver meaningful financial insights that drive smarter business decisions.

This is a role where your analytical expertise meets real commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quarterly Projections Management: Liaise with Finance Operations on the quarterly L&H projections process; review and analyze significant variances between Actuals, Projections, and Plan, and steer management with clear, data-driven insights
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues in Finance Operations, Valuation & Analysis, and Underwriting on deal pipeline analysis, renewal data, and portfolio performance topics
  • Business Partnering: Communicate key performance metrics to stakeholders and client markets in a clear, accessible manner — translating complex financial data into insights that resonate with non-finance audiences
  • IFRS17 Implementation Support: Assist in streamlining activities related to IFRS17 implementation by developing a thorough understanding of end-to-end business and finance operations, ledger closing, and financial reporting (including New Business and Business Plan)
  • Portfolio Performance Analysis: Analyze market, client, and underwriting portfolio performance; identify and explain performance drivers; and respond effectively to rapidly emerging ad-hoc analytical tasks
  • IFRS Business Results Analysis: Contribute to the analysis of IFRS business results and outputs from the reporting system, ensuring consistent valuation aligned with the Business Impact workstream
  • Annual Planning Support: Support the carve-out of plan numbers for the upcoming year in close coordination with Client Markets, BU FP&A, Valuation, and Pricing teams

About the Team

The L&H FP&A team serves as the Performance Architect and Commercial Advisor of the Business Unit, crafting transparency on financial performance, driving performance strategy, enabling resource and capital allocation, supporting performance initiatives, and delivering commercial advice to key stakeholders.

Within L&H Finance, the Bangalore team is an integral and valued part of the global FP&A function, supporting through data management, performance analysis and reporting, forward-looking modelling, and advanced analytics. The team is agile, driven, and deeply collaborative — offering team members the opportunity to delve into financial performance data, manage key stakeholder requests, and contribute meaningfully to global business outcomes. As a Financial Analyst in this team, you will be at the heart of data-driven decision-making in a truly international environment.

You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, adapting quickly to change, and delivering high-quality work under tight timelines — all while keeping the bigger picture in view.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Qualifications: Chartered Accountant (CA), CFA, or MBA (Finance); or a successfully completed university degree preferably in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or an equivalent discipline
  • Relevant Experience: 7+ years of work experience in FP&A, preferably within Life and Health (Re)insurance; prior experience in the insurance industry is a strong advantage

  • Analytical Capability: Demonstrated strength in analytical and data processing skills, with a methodological and conceptual approach to problem-solving — able to focus on detail without losing sight of the broader strategic picture

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Understanding of insurance products, risk selection, and risk-reward frameworks; actuarial education is a plus
  • Familiarity with income statement, balance sheet, and source of earnings concepts within a finance context
  • Strong curiosity and motivation to continuously learn about the insurance and reinsurance industry
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting
  • Excellent organizational skills with the flexibility to perform optimally under tight deadlines
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills — able to engage effectively in one-on-one conversations and group settings
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a global, multicultural, and fast-paced work environment
  • A team-oriented mindset with a genuine willingness to contribute to overall team spirit and cohesion
  • Maturity and self-confidence when engaging with internal clients, business partners, or senior colleagues
  • Openness and adaptability in a changing and dynamic environment
