Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O Developer – Senior Consultant (Managed Services)

 

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O Developer at Senior Consultant level to support, maintain, and enhance business-critical Dynamics 365 solutions within a Managed Services environment. The role combines hands-on development with production support, technical analysis, release delivery, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will own complex technical work items, resolve incidents within agreed service levels, deliver controlled enhancements, and help improve the stability, performance, security, and maintainability of the application landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 technical support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain and HR applications, integrations, batch processes, reports, workflows, and related Power Platform, Dataverse and Azure components.

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, service requests, defects, and recurring problems within agreed SLAs and quality standards.

• Perform technical root cause analysis, document findings, implement permanent fixes, and recommend preventive actions or monitoring improvements.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable, secure, upgrade-safe customizations, extensions, integrations, reports, and automation solutions.

• Translate functional requirements and user stories into technical designs, development tasks, estimates, test evidence, deployment plans, and support documentation.

• Assess enhancement requests for feasibility, complexity, dependencies, security, performance, supportability, and impact on standard Dynamics 365 F&O functionality.

• Collaborate with functional consultants, solution architects, infrastructure teams, testers, service managers, client stakeholders, and third-party providers.

• Support Microsoft One Version updates, regression testing, impact assessments, release readiness, deployment validation, and post-release stabilization.

• Manage source control, branching, code reviews, build automation, release pipelines, deployment packages, environment promotion, and rollback readiness through Azure DevOps.

• Monitor application performance, integrations, batch jobs, and technical exceptions; proactively identify risks and opportunities to improve reliability.

• Maintain technical specifications, operating procedures, knowledge articles, support playbooks, configuration records, and release documentation.

• Participate in major-incident response, problem-management reviews, change advisory discussions, backlog refinement, sprint ceremonies, and service review meetings.

• Provide clear progress updates, communicate risks and dependencies promptly, and manage assigned work from analysis through production closure.

• Review code and technical deliverables, mentor junior developers, promote reusable components, and help enforce development and security standards.

• Identify opportunities for automation, platform simplification, technical-debt reduction, improved observability, and continuous service improvement.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on development experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations using X++, extensions, event handlers, Chain of Command, data entities, forms, classes, tables, workflows, batch framework, and security artifacts.

• Experience developing and supporting integrations using OData, REST APIs, custom services, business events, data management framework, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, or equivalent integration patterns.

• Experience creating and supporting SSRS reports, Electronic Reporting configurations, Power BI integrations, and data extracts where applicable.

• Strong working knowledge of Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, Git or supported version-control practices, build and release pipelines, CI/CD, code-quality controls, and deployment lifecycle.

• Understanding of Dynamics 365 environments, Lifecycle Services (LCS), Power Platform Admin Center (PPAC), package deployment, database synchronization, refreshes, monitoring, and release management.

• Working knowledge of Power Platform, including Dataverse, Power Apps, and Power Automate, and their integration with Dynamics 365 F&O.

• Proficiency in SQL, data analysis, debugging, tracing, performance tuning, and production issue diagnosis.

• Understanding of role-based security, segregation of duties, secure coding practices, data privacy, audit requirements, and controlled access to production data.

• Knowledge of Microsoft-supported extensibility patterns, One Version update considerations, application lifecycle management, unit testing, and upgrade-safe development.

• Ability to create high-quality technical designs, estimates, test cases, deployment instructions, and operational support documentation.

Managed Services Experience

• Proven experience in an AMS, Managed Services, application support, or production operations environment.

• Practical understanding of incident, service request, problem, change, release, and knowledge-management processes.

• Experience working to SLAs and KPIs, prioritizing competing tickets, managing technical escalations, and supporting critical business periods.

• Experience with IT service-management tools such as ServiceNow or equivalent platforms.

• Ability to balance rapid restoration of service with robust root cause analysis and sustainable resolution.

• Experience supporting geographically distributed stakeholders and blended onshore/offshore delivery teams.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• 6–7 years of relevant experience in Dynamics 365 development, including substantial hands-on experience with enterprise-scale solutions.

• Demonstrated experience supporting live Dynamics 365 environments and delivering enhancements through controlled development and release processes.

• Strong analytical, debugging, estimation, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

• Good understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile delivery, DevOps practices, testing methods, and production support controls.

• Ability to work independently, take accountability for complex deliverables, and provide technical guidance without requiring a formal lead role.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues, options, risks, and recommendations to technical and business audiences.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 F&O Apps Developer Associate, Power Platform Developer Associate, Dynamics 365 F&O Apps Solutions Architect Expert, Power Platform Solutions Architect Expert and/or Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect.

• ITIL Foundation or practical ITIL-based service-management experience.

• Experience with automated testing, telemetry, monitoring, integration observability, and DevSecOps controls.

• Exposure to Copilot, Copilot Studio, AI Builder, or Azure AI services used responsibly within enterprise solutions.

• Experience in service transition, application onboarding, knowledge transfer, technical-debt remediation, or support operating-model improvement.
