Key roles and responsibilities

Firewall configuration and management Configure and maintain Palo Alto firewalls including security policies NAT policies zones interfaces and virtual routers

Security policy management Create modify and review security rules to control traffic between internal networks external networks and applications

Network security Implement network segmentation access control threat prevention and secure connectivity

VPN configuration Configure and troubleshoot sitetosite IPsec VPNs and GlobalProtect remoteaccess VPNs

Threat prevention Manage antivirus antispyware vulnerability protection URL filtering and fileblocking profiles

Monitoring and log analysis Monitor traffic threat system and configuration logs to detect suspicious activity and investigate security incidents

Troubleshooting Resolve connectivity issues blocked applications routing problems NAT issues VPN failures and firewall performance problems

High availability HA Configure and maintain activepassive or activeactive firewall HA where supported by the deployment

Firmware and software upgrades Plan and perform PANOS upgrades security content updates backups and configuration validation

Change management Implement approved firewall changes document configurations maintain rollback plans and follow changecontrol procedures

Security audits and compliance Review firewall rules remove unused or overly permissive rules and support security audits

Incident response Investigate malicious traffic compromised hosts suspicious connections and potential security breaches
