Director, ControllerOverview

The SOA Controller is responsible for end-to-end controllership and financial governance across assigned SOA legal entities. The role partners with regional and global finance teams to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain a strong control environment, support statutory and regulatory obligations, and provide clear financial insight to business and finance stakeholders.

The successful candidate will combine strong accounting judgement with disciplined execution, stakeholder leadership and a continuous-improvement mindset. The role requires the ability to operate across multiple entities and jurisdictions, identify and resolve complex accounting or process issues, and strengthen standardisation and automation across the controllership agenda.

Lead the review of monthly and quarterly results, investigating unusual movements, assessing accounting treatment and ensuring that issues are resolved or escalated promptly.

Maintain a robust control environment by ensuring key controls are designed appropriately, performed on time, evidenced clearly and updated when processes or risks change.

Monitor differences between US GAAP and applicable local accounting frameworks or IFRS, ensuring required adjustments are understood, documented and recorded accurately.

Partner with tax, treasury, legal, payroll, shared-services and business finance teams to address entity-level accounting, funding, governance and compliance matters.

Support board, regulator, banking and other external-stakeholder requirements by providing accurate financial information and clear explanations within agreed timelines.

Drive standardisation, simplification and automation of reporting and controllership processes, including effective use of financial-statement and workflow tools.

Provide practical accounting guidance to stakeholders, document conclusions and ensure significant judgements are supported by appropriate analysis and approvals.

Manage priorities across multiple deadlines, maintain transparent status reporting, and proactively communicate risks, dependencies and decisions to senior stakeholders.

Coach and develop finance professionals, promote effective knowledge transfer and contribute to a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team culture.

All about you

Qualified accountant or equivalent professional finance qualification, with 14+ years post-qualification experience in controllership, financial reporting, audit or a related discipline.

Strong knowledge of financial accounting and reporting, with practical experience applying US GAAP, IFRS and/or local statutory accounting requirements.

Demonstrated experience managing financial close, statutory accounts, external audits, balance-sheet governance and internal controls across complex legal-entity structures.

Ability to analyse complex financial information, form well-supported conclusions and communicate accounting matters clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Proven ability to build relationships across functions, geographies and levels of seniority, including external auditors, advisers, banks or regulators where relevant.

Strong organisation and project-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes under demanding timelines.

Continuous-improvement orientation, including experience standardising processes, strengthening controls and using technology or automation to improve quality and efficiency.
